Christopher Cotter is a featured speaker at the Spring 2019 USLAW Conference, taking place March 28-30 at the JW Marriott in Nashville, Tennessee. Mr. Cotter will be presenting as part of the conference’s Transportation and Logistics educational track, which will be attended by hundreds of leaders from the transportation industry and preeminent lawyers in the field.
Mr. Cotter will present on two topics: “The ‘New’ Standard of Care – Technology” and “Technology on its Head.” These topics will focus on the new technology available to the transportation industry, with a focus on risk mitigating / collision avoidance technology such as Advance Warning Systems and Autonomous Emergency Braking. In addition to explaining the “state of the art” and current rules and regulations, the presentation will explain how lawyers are manipulating this technology to try to create new liabilities and exposures for the transportation industry. The presentation will also touch on the legal ramifications for when this technology fails, and the legal crossroads between the transportation industry and product manufacturers in such situations.
Mr. Cotter is a member of the firm’s Transportation practice group, representing trucking, bussing, rail and intermodal industries in all facets of liability exposure with a special focus on catastrophic claims. Mr. Cotter is also a member of the firm’s Product Liability Department while maintaining a leadership position within USLAW’s Complex Tort and Product Liability Practice Group.
